The Sanctuary

2 Feb

Cathy sent us an email the other day about a church conversion in her city of Seattle she thought we’d enjoy. She mentioned it has finally come on the market after a long and winding road including the first developer running out of money to finish the job. This former ‘First Church of Christ, Scientist’ is now 12 incredible modern condominiums. The website states: “Enjoy voluminous interiors boasting soaring ceilings up to 30 feet high and generously-scaled floor plans of 1,600 to more than 3,000 square feet of living space. Many homes include rooftop terraces… pricing from the low $500,000s to more than $1 million”. Very cool! Below are 2 of these condos (a basic one and a not-so-basic one).

Rainbow

Rainbow

Beautiful, beautiful Blenko glass in all colours of the rainbow. Beautiful, beautiful photograph by Keith Scott Morton. Just wish the clown would go away. Just saying you know. Coulrophobia. If this was in a magazine I could fold the page just so and make it disappear.

Sometimes Scandi isn’t just white

Sometimes Scandi isnt just white

Sometimes Scandi style is anything but white. Most times it’s a lot more. Swedish photographer Anna Danielsson takes us into homes that break those clichés about white and bright must be Scandi. There’s brooding and muted, pop art colour pops and warm woods … and yes there is still white but not the antiseptic, scrubbed within an inch of its life Swedish real estate photograph white. Lived in white. Such rich, detailed shots. So much personality. Those Swedes are still styling whatever colour the room.

Summer lovin’

2 Feb

When I first move to Australia a few years ago, I was having this kind of picture in mind about the lifestyle.
Sun, fun, playful, colorful, still with a nice atmosphere in the interior – relaxed & comfortable. It’s attractive
& inviting all over although my favorite image is the one with the beautiful car outside the house.
Thanks for sharing:)

Paul Raeside double time

2 Feb

Ruggedly masculine (in an artistic fashion) all the way through, including that slight sense of awkwardness over being indoors and away from power tools. I love the idea in the last picture, the reutilization of drawers as a stacked storage… something. But mostly, I just kept thinking, ‘well, that’s one way to do it.’ I mean, you have a textural godspace like that bedroom, and — that?

TGIF! I thought in honour of the end of the work week I’d treat you all to a visual feast by super talented photographer Caroline Arber. Her photos appear effortless…and natural…and calming. Just what I need. (It’s been a long week).

New from Mim

20 Jan

I like the clean lines in the design that make it functional but not overly modern. The kitchen and dining area with the glass-paneled ceiling with all the greenery is so refreshing and light.

I also like the bedroom and living area with the fireplace and shelving that is very clean and streamlined.

Great designs by Mim.

I want to work here!!!

20 Jan

Can you imagine going to work every day and in between tasks being able to get a tattoo, get in some target practice at a shooting range, hang out in a tree house, slide down a fireman’s pole, have a milkshake snack at a canteen…all without leaving the office?!?! Yes, that is the insane workplace of Missing Link, corporate presentation designers based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Makes my drab, mismatched office with busted, dirty chairs (and everyone thinks the federal government wastes money – not on furniture they don’t!) look even worse. We can’t even get coffee without having to trudge across the street in snow… (more details via VISI)

I want to work here!!!
