I Am Not Over Valentines Day!!!!!

Decor Pad

I confess…it is not over for me.  I love the heartfelt messages from my oldest brother, our daughters, and hearing that our son liked his edible fruit bouquet. I thought that he would mock but he and his roommates dug in. Healthy choice, no?.  Thank you boyfriend’s of my girlz that you provided amazing flowers and dinners and gifts:)

What better way to perpetuate and  to celebrate the holiday of love than by featuring red and pink interiors?  As seen from the photos below, red and pink can be used in virtually any space, from a small scale to a large scale.  Floors, walls, doors…you name it, red and pink have got it covered. Did I mention that my gift of choice was a bevy of Lush bath bombs? I am addicted!

Pairing red and pink with white or black are traditional combinations, but I love the unexpected color combinations- pink + gold, red + yellow, red + light blue, pink + blue, pink + yellow.

Take a look at some of my Valentine’s Day inspired picks below! I am hoping that we can keep the day going for awhile here…..

More on Merida

23 Feb

I spent most of my afternoon at the Soho House visiting with the Merida girls who gave us the inside scoop on the textile design process from concept to creation.   The creativity and detail that goes into each design convinced me that I need to take a trip to Boston to see their design studio and get a tour of the weaving mill so that’s the plan.  I’m hoping to make my way up this Fall with my friends from Tilton Fenwick who are both former Boston girls (BC and Tufts), as am I.  Until then, I leave you with this; some beautiful images from Merida’s website so you can see a glimpse of their beautiful collection.

Eventi Hotel, NYC

Eventi Hotel, NYC

During my recent stay in NYC for the Brizo event, I spent four nights at the Eventi Hotel in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The Eventi Hotel is a newer property owned by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. The midtown property boasts a spa, a bar & restaurant, and the FoodParc (indoor/outdoor dining). The highlight of my stay? The dynamic view from my hotel room suite!

The very tall upholsted headboard is quite a focal point (aside from the nearby view), and the bedding accents include an orange bolster pillow and blanket (not shown) at the foot of the bed.

From Wallpaper to Fabric…

23 Feb

We’ve always been charmed by the beautiful, hand-painted Chinoiserie, Japanese, and Korean wallpaper created by de Gournay but, as impressive as these designs are, don’t think of this NYC company as a one trick pony.

In addition to admiring their knobbly slub silk, hand woven silk damask, Indian tea paper, and striking metallic wallpapers, we’ve recently been intrigued by de Gournay’s extensive fabric collection.

The talent behind these romantic designs can paint any of their looks onto fabrics of different qualities and weights. Upholstery, bedspreads, curtains, blinds- whatever your need- the designers at de Gournay will help you complete your room in the best possible taste. Even porcelain can be used as a canvas to create the harmonious interior of your dreams!

Take a look at just a sample of their hand-painted work!

Mirrored Chandelier: Uovo Black Pearl by Lasvit

This exquisite mirrored chandelier came to be through the collaboration of leading glass art firm Lasvit has collaborated and Czech product designer Rony Plesl. True to its name, the Uovo Black Pearl is a sparkling gem with a dramatic, mysterious air about it. Made using glass-blowing techniques, this large-scale chandelier is like art suspended from the ceiling, boasting a sculptural quality that sparkles, reflecting light in its many mirrored spheres (“uovo” is Italian for “egg”), available in gold and silver finishes. Virtually invisible wire holds each shimmering globe in place, adding to the light’s enchanting appeal. The Uovo Black Pearl comes in two sizes, the large version measuring nearly two metres high, 1.2 metres wide and 130 kilograms in weight; the smaller pieces at 1.2 metres high, 800 metres wide and weighing 100 kilos. More details area available by visiting Lasvit.
