Stalking the art collector

10 Mar

5 bedrooms, three bathrooms, great suburb (Darling Point, Sydney), huge house and most likely massive price tag. Stalking tends to be expensive. What I love most about this particular house though is not the space or it’s white brightness, it’s lovely courtyard and pool or the stunning “wilderness” of a garden. No what I drool over in this house is the art collection. Oh to have my own walls covered in such fabulous (and large) works. Perhaps I could just about afford the hall with the tribal pieces … perhaps ;) Link here until it is sold.

Villa Valentina is an impressive looking modern residence situated in Miami Beach,’ Florida,’ United States. You are looking at a glamorous home featuring no less than 6 bathrooms and 6 bedrooms. Its multi-level terraces and wide windows allow unobstructed views of the beautiful bay, while the strategically placed patio furniture ensures unforgeable moments outdoors- as if the beach were not close enough. Moreover, this building’s amenities include an entertainment center, a business center, home theater, wine cellar, state-of-the-art kitchen equipment (we would be really interested to know who thinks of cooking while renting an incredibly expensive villa for a few days, meals included), barbecue and parking for six cars. This home is currently available for rent, for the opulent cost of $6000 – $11100′  per night and the villa policies don’t allow more than 14 guests at once. Slightly overpriced, but the interiors are quite inspiring, have a look!

***Pets on furniture posts will resume in a couple weeks when I return from holidays! – Kim

The other day my sister called me and said “OMG Kim, you have GOT to blog Lexie’s house!!!”. Lexie is a furniture designer and her husband is an architect (his firm is Mork-Ulnes Design) – which explains why her house is so freaking amazing. In 2006 his firm was responsible for extensive renovations of this 1896 Victorian home located in San Francisco, which features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and is just over 2600 sq ft. I absolutely adore every square inch of this home, from the architecture to the decor. And for those who may house hunting in the area, this home can be YOURS, as the family is moving to Norway in the summer. This has got to be one of the top 5 homes I’ve ever blogged. (MANY more photos after the jump).

Cascade Shower Head – new Fluide shower by ST Rubinetterie

24 Feb

This cascade shower head by ST Rubinetterie is creative and functional thinking at its best. The new Fluide shower designed by Simone Micheli is inspired by nature, but with an unmistakably modern twist. The authentic cascade waterfall effect is unmatched by traditional shower heads, though they may try! Another unequaled feature is its futuristic look – a polished-steel slot that does away with bulky, intrusive fixtures and replaces them with an aesthetically pleasing two-dimensional panel. When turned on, the look is stunning and serene at once, and when not in use, this shower head all but disappears, making it a great choice for modern minimalist bathrooms. And because it’s made of steel, you can install the Fluide fixture both indoors and out, making it a perfect complement to your outdoor shower, swimming pool or vacation villa. Also comes in chromed brass and brushed nickel, and other colors and finishes are available on request. For more info visit ST Rubinetterie.

Ode to Orange

24 Feb

You may have picked up by now that I have a slight (ok maybe more than slight…) obsession with orange. ‘ Not only have I used this punchy hue throughout my own home, but it has also made its way into many of my projects, both commercial and residential. ‘ Something about this color really strikes my fancy, for it has both a lively vintage quality yet also a sophisticated modern feel. ‘ Furthermore, it can be paired with many other colors to create a dramatic effect (my favorite combos are orange and gray, orange and purple, orange and pink, orange and brown and orange and cream).

I was browsing Lonny’s online photo gallery and I was pleased to see just how many spaces used orange in some way, either big or small, and in many different rooms, from bathrooms to workspaces. ‘ Check out some of my favorites!

Folding Shower Enclosure by Duravit offers extra OpenSpace in compact bathroom

24 Feb

This folding shower enclosure by Duravit offers extra “open space” in compact bathrooms. The aptly named OpenSpace is an innovative shower partition that folds away when not it use, freeing up extra room. Think about it – unless you’re in it, the shower is just wasted space, especially when space is at a premium. This innovative design lets you enjoy a fully enclosed shower and when you’re finished, a pair of glass wall panels fold away neatly against the wall, right over your fixtures, shower gels and shampoos. When you’re ready to rub-a-dub, just swing the panels out to form the enclosure. The barely-there clear glass walls visually don’t occupy any room either, allowing light to spill into every corner of the space. Also available in a mirrored-glass finish. Check out the OpenSpace folding shower enclosure by visiting Duravit.

Blue Bathroom Furniture by Ypsilon – Doll

16 Feb

blue-bathroom-furniture-ypsilon-doll-1.jpg

The trend is “true blue” with this blue bathroom furniture by Ypsilon. The Doll bathroom collection is a modern take on a nautical theme, featuring an aqua-inspired blue hue (how fitting for the bathroom!) contrasting the bright-white countertops, legs and details. The glossy finish gives the pieces a reflective liquid quality, while the circular hardware reminds us of a porthole or wheel, adding subtly suggestive authenticity to the design. The vanity and cabinets offer lots of storage space while giving your bathrooms a splash of style. Check out this blue furniture by visiting Ypsilon.
