Interior Design Sense

I was scoping out the portfolio of architecture and interior design firm West Chin the other day to see if there were more photos I could showcase here that Jo hadn’t already done in her post back in June. I came across a swanky pad that I thought was worthy of it’s own post. This flat is modern but not too harsh, with funky bits here and there (including a couple sets of boobs and a pair of diaper chairs), and even some cute spaces for the kids (the parents must lock them in their rooms for fear of dirty hands on the furniture). FAB!

From Richard Wittschiebe Hand, this imposing home belongs to Carol Richard, an architect who has always dreamed of designing her own place. We don’t know if this looks like a dream come true to you but for Carol it was the result of all her architectural wishes mixed together. Even though it looks like a fortress on the outside, perhaps causing some of you to say this is not the warmest place in the world, when you step inside, the atmosphere changes completely. Light and color fill the rooms, creating a fresh and comfortable feel.  The pale blue and the pink chairs stand out in contrast to the white walls and wooden floors. There is a stairway matching he floors which connects the levels and fits perfect with with rest of the decor. We are sure you will find a lot of pleasing decorative instruments in the pictures below and we are looking forward to your comments on them.- via Contemporist

How do you feel about an apartment whose furniture you can see through? We bet you didn’t really give that idea much thought before, which is why today we would like to introduce you to this original themed-furniture interiors from Irina Grawe. The designer’s portfolio features a lot of interesting arrangements, most of them having very unusual themes. We decided to show you what we think is the most practical one, even though in this case the idea is cooler than it is functional. In the pictures below you have a lot of creatively shaped elements, from chairs and tables to pendant lamps and other decorative items. The thing they have in common is a firm negation of the idea of compact. This collection could be used on its own or integrated in other interior designs. Please let us know what you think.

The days when chairs used to be made up of wood and four legs are long gone. Contemporary furniture sums up a lot of unusual ideas and The Springtime Chair by Frank Winnubst is one of them. The designer decided to use strings instead of legs and wood and created this original sitting item. “Springtime” is said to quite comfortable due to this design and a particular characteristic ensures a good repose as well: the last layer of springs is covered by knit material. We like how there are many colors involved there and that this fact brings a joyful factor to the product, We would like it even more if the whole chair was covered, but that is probably hard to put to practice.- via Design Milk

Designer Gert Eussen, who you may remember from our favorite spherical treehouse, is making chairs from potatoes. Actual, little, brown potatoes, seat-shaped and dried out. No, they’re not doll furniture: they’re models for the larger, people-sized real thing. The potato chair is built to the specifications of a real potato, and made of bio-plastic to boot.

We’ve shown you all sorts of chairs here on Freshome, most of them quite unusual; today we bring you this luxurious armchair from Redo Studio. It is called “R 15″, a name that is similar to what you’ve probably come across in the plane industry or Formula 1 cars. You have to admit the shape is quite aerodynamic and it could easily direct one to think that way. A little flashy, the R15 luxurious armchair could fit well in ultra-modern apartments that have a lot of available space. The product comes in a variety of colors, so it is easy to integrate it in almost any environment. We are used to chairs which allows certain sitting comfort only up to the point where your back is relaxed. But usually the feet remain without any support, which makes staying on a chair for too long quite unpleasant.  Today we bring you this creative and stylish chair design which is meant to innovate the idea of comfort. From Kataoka Design Studio, the O & O Seat Chair allows plenty of space for leg stretching in order to be able to spend a lot of time in it without feeling any distress. What we particularly enjoy about it is its unusual shape and the black and white color choice. “O & O” is an inspired name, chosen because of the double curved shape. Here on Freshome you’ve seen a lot of themed bedrooms for kids. It is true, fairy tales, castles and princesses provide a wide range of ideas for bedrooms, but today, we would like to show you something new: hearts. You’ve seen them drawn on every teenager’s diary, piece of paper or bumper sticker. And it’s a known fact: young ladies love hearts. Which is why these six bedrooms below all feature heart themed furniture. The colors are also typical for teen girls (pink, light green, yellow, red, baby blue). Chairs, pillows, bed covers, nothing escaped the mighty heart-shaped plan.Some of these interiors are a bit too crowded for our tastes, but then again, it is not us who the manufacturers target.
