Interior Design Sense

What if your five senses included the ability to detect carbon monoxide, methane gas and smoke? What if you could record and upload your exposure to these elements to a network of other users? What if this beautifully nerdy network could help us determine the collective burden of toxic exposure? Well design student Joe Saavedra is making all of these scenarios a reality with his thesis – a unit called Modular||Neuroid. This crazy contraption is a wearable sensor unit that uploads its data onto pachube, a kind of info-collection network.

This really cool studying place was created by AEQUO, a Dutch design studio and is located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The Vleuterweide Campus “suffered” a tremendous make-over as its information plaza became a high tech culture space where students can catch up with the information they need. The place was compared to a monastery, where each bench is equipped with state of the art technology. However, the computers, magazines and other elements are very subtly integrated in the overall bench design. We also noticed how the displays are not stacked in together like we’ve seen in a few libraries, but situated at a good distance from one another in order to allow students to properly concentrate. We also like the colors, as they send out a warm feeling. Would you like to study in a place like this?

Are you a fan of transparent pieces of furniture ? If yes then you should take a look at “The Invisibles” by Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka. He will launch a collection of transparent polycarbonate furniture at the Kartell showroom in Milan next month. “The Invisibles” is the result of the latest collaboration between japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka and Kartell’s president, Claudio Luti. The series comes ten years after the ‘invention’of transparency, in which Kartell expresses a new stylistic approach to ‘invisible furniture’. The pieces share a lightness, complete in transparency, but still have a feeling of solidness. – Via – Deezen

According to Claudio Luti, President of Kartell, “The Kartell-Tokujin team is founded on the creativity of both partners, on the brandʼs expertise and on the designerʼs poetry which goes far beyond technical brilliance.”
Tokujin Yoshioka explains “In the last few years I have been thinking about a design that would include natural phenomena and invisible elements such as senses, wind and light. The “Invisible”, a special collection launched from Kartell, only leaves the sense as if seating in the air. The presence of the object is eradicated and it will create a scenery of a sitter floating in the air.”

Too parallel boxes, each with a well defined design were connected together for this project called “MO House”. White, red and black were the colors chosen for the exterior, a palette which brings a sober touch. Large windows facilitate a good indoor illumination and contribute to the overall modern design. Privacy is not an issue, as the frosted glass does not allow too much visibility. The interior is minimalist, with stairs connecting the floors and interesting looking furniture.
