Madeleine Blanchfield in Fiji

24 Apr

Please take me away to this stunning home in Fiji by Madeleine Blanchfield. All the elements of Blanchfield’s modern Australian aesthetic are there but layered with a rich referencing of island style. A perfect holiday home or, if I had my way, a perfect forever home. Kedere rawa ni lako vata?

Agreed, that’s a no-go on the photo-shopping. If it is supposed to be deliberate and obvious, then it needs to be much more so – play it up and make it truly surreal. Otherwise, it looks like bad student practice.
And the way it is now, takes away from the elements that are there.

Philippe Stark faucets: Axor Starck Organic by Hansgrohe

3 Mar

With renowned designer Philippe Stark’s signature forward-thinking fashion and funk, the new Axor Starck Organic faucet collection from Hansgrohe is making waves, so to speak, both for its looks and its ecologically responsible design. Inspired by water, this sculptural line of wall- and deck-mounted sink, bidet, tub and shower hardware does away with rigidity and adopts an organic (as the name would imply!), free-flowing form. Like its muse, the line has a minimalist appeal, combining the mixer and handle into one, complementing earthy as well as contemporary style spaces. Adding brains to beauty, this faucet line is also making waves, so to speak, thanks to its “smart” and efficient use of water – just 3.5 l/min. But when you need a little extra flow, these faucets come equipped with a booster that increases that volume up to 5 l/min. The flow and temperature are controlled separately, but are all part of one sleek, streamlined unit. Choose from over 40 different elements, all part of the new Axor Starck Organic collection. For additional information, visit Hansgrohe.

Feilden Fowles Architects

Pared back, elegant simplicity. Spaces stripped back to their inherent form. Beautiful, precise yet subtle. Feilden Fowles Architects deliver pure, conceptually strong buildings. The first , a renovation to a 1930′s apartment sees emphasis on symmetry where the dark walnut-lined central axis with sliding elements provides intimate pockets in an open plan design. stripped back to its inherent form. The second home, a Cotswold extension to a working farmhouse emphasises its simple, functional structure.

When can I move in?

Just a few of my favourite things. Beautiful old house, great mix of vintage and designer furniture, wonderful art, colour and books. Winner for Residential Decoration at the 2012 Australian Interior Design Awards, Huntingtower, Hawthorn by Atticus & Milo. Humour, whimsy, warmth and history. Wonderful elements for a family home.
