How do you feel about an apartment whose furniture you can see through? We bet you didn’t really give that idea much thought before, which is why today we would like to introduce you to this original themed-furniture interiors from Irina Grawe. The designer’s portfolio features a lot of interesting arrangements, most of them having very unusual themes. We decided to show you what we think is the most practical one, even though in this case the idea is cooler than it is functional. In the pictures below you have a lot of creatively shaped elements, from chairs and tables to pendant lamps and other decorative items. The thing they have in common is a firm negation of the idea of compact. This collection could be used on its own or integrated in other interior designs. Please let us know what you think.

On Saturday Jo WINKed photographer Ty Cole’s online gallery and today I’d like to showcase some of his architectural and interior photography. His photos are sharp and bright and he frames interesting elements so perfectly. (And I had to include that last photo – I am going to dream about those rough timber floors tonight…)

Ekateryna Sokolova is a young designer from Kiev, Ukraine, with works in the field of furniture and industrial design. Today we would like to present an unusual washbasin, a project called “Iris”, due to its shape correspondence with the elegant flower. Here is what Ekateryna stated about this design: “The idea is that the wash-basin is manufactured from sheet material, corian or metal. Thanks to these materials the basin becomes visually light weight and elegant and resembles a flower, at the same time retaining its strength. The sheet is bent in such manner that a functional shelf is created, where towels, accessories, and cosmetics are kept.” It would sure be interesting to have one of these around the house- perhaps in an environment with similar shaped elements- in order to create a light atmosphere. -via 3rings

We’ve given you plenty of interior ideas lately regarding interiors and out-of-the-box arrangements, but we put little emphasis on doors in the previous posts. Today we would like to change that. After all, the door is an important aspect of any apartment and its design should influence and be influenced by all the other elements in the room. These being said, we’ve gathered up a pretty impressive collection of contemporary apartment-entrance doors from Oikos, which we hope you will enjoy. It is true, some of them look pretty futuristic, but can really fit in a modern place, with minimalist furniture or with a suitable color arrangement.Most of them also feature wooden finishes, which gives a homey feel. The picture also have inspiring interiors that were arranged in order to feet the style of the doors.

Stefan Strumbel is an artist from Germany, whose creations are well known national-wide. He combines a strong details in his works, coming up with items that make a statements. Most of the elements used are German images with great meaning for the citizens. His style was also connected to pop art, a current which challenges tradition and emphasizes mass production. Here is a better interpretation of Stefan’s work from Wicked Halo:  “Although his work includes cultural artifacts such as cuckoo clocks or the traditional costume of the Black Forest, he isolates and recontextualises using everyday objects such as tree-shaped air fresheners and shopping carts and giving pieces of his work titles such as “What the fuck is Heimat”? Heimat is a quintessentially German concept, which roughly means homeland. “There is no English word for Heimat,” Strumbel explains. “Some people link Heimat to a place, for others it is a feeling.”- via Psfk.com
