The "Neverending" Modern Seating System by Luca Nichetto

19 Jan

Designer Luca Nichetto used flowing sheets of Corian to create the “Neverending” seating elements that twist their way around individual seats of various sizes and shapes. Nichetto was inspired by the “random and never ending elements not presenting a precise direction for disposition”. The Neverending seating system was developed for Andreoli. Via

People in Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones

12 Jan

The saying, “people in glass houses should not throw stones” took on new meaning today as I bore witness to the first glass house that I have ever seen. Though completely impractical in terms of insulation and withstanding the elements, it does make for interesting conversation. The designers of the home are Carlo Santambrogio and Ennio Arosio, or Santambrogiomilano. The inspiration behind this project is how a clear pane of glass leads to an “unbroken vision”. One thing is for certain, there is not much privacy if you plan on getting dressed or bathing. Via.

Architects: CEBRA
Location: Gentofte, Denmark
In Cooperation with: JJW Architects and Kollision
Client: The Municipality of Gentofte
Project Area: 25,148 + 52,584 sq. ft. new building and rebuilding
Project Year: 2005-2008
Photographs: Adam Mørk

Søgaard School is one of the municipality of Gentoftes school expansion projects, which CEBRA developed in cooperation with the users of the institution. Søgaard School is a special school for socially challenged children with general learning disabilities. The project is based on the school’s value program and the needs expressed during workshops with staff and parents. It has been a goal to collect school scattered buildings in a coherent structure that enhances the natural opportunities for collaboration across school departments.

The architectural intention of the project is to provide elements that link to the neighborhood – its scale and characteristics. The new building is therefore divided into sections in the plan as a duplication of the existing building’s footprint. These are shifted in relation to each other and vary in size. Each section has its own pitched roof – a recognizable form in the surrounding residential neighborhood, and by letting the pitched roofs have the same direction as the existing building, reveals a picture of several joined villas.

Spanish Country Home: Simplicity and Style

Spanish Country Home: Simplicity and Style

This lovely home has a simple and yet cosy architecture plan. Located in a beautiful country area in Spain, it is a great place for a peaceful retreat.  Even though the exterior may be considered plain- we are dealing with a country house, don’t forget that- the inside elements make up for this fact. What is striking about the overall arrangement is the fact that the kitchen, living room and the dining room are all located in the same space and they make for one single room. However, if you look at the pictures, you will notice that everything is in its right place. Moreover, the lighting is very god and the overall idea is that of space. Warm and inviting, with bits of color here and there, it almost seems that this house calls out for a relaxing holiday. -via Inspiring Interiors

The new Essential Wind is an ultra-modern kitchen from Toncelli packed with exciting, eye-catching elements. Characterised by an elegant linearity, the kitchen has two distinct ‘areas of operation’. The stove area is of smooth stainless steel, whereas the worktops are covered with a coordinating natural stone grey quartzite.
