Designed by Mesh Architectures, Steve Burns’ new Brooklyn residence is a 2,100-square-foot bachelor pad created for the enjoyment of the resident and his guests. The former host of the children’s show “Blue’s Clues” wanted to live in an open space, suited for his new found love: music. By keeping only three brick walls of the existing structure, the architect created a modern space with amazing features, like the catwalk on the second floor. The main rooms of the house – master bedroom, bathroom and living room/kitchen – all have access to the private courtyard with a deck created from salvaged Coney Island planks. The converted garage became an amazing house with the help of Eric Liftin at Mesh Architectures, known for repurposing old materials. The interior courtyard was cut into the shape of the structure in order to beneficiate from fresh, open air without breaking the zoning regulations.

Many, many, many moons ago Kim featured the work of photographer Eric Piasecki. She was impressed by the chair porn. Snap after snap of delicious chairs. Revisting his portfolio last week (on his rep’ site)I found plenty of chairs and quite a few more sexy rooms. Love the light in Eric’s photos, how he explores texture and colour. A leading photographer and it is not hard to see why. Don’t miss his own website as well. Sunken brick wine cellar anyone?

There is nothing better than a gourd lamp. You just can’t go wrong with them! They look great in any style interior- traditional, transitional or contemporary and they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
I do have to say that my personal favorite are the colorful ones. When a room begs for a splash of color, using even just one gourd lamp does the trick.
I’ve gathered some of my favorites below. This selection is all over the map! From high to low price points, colorful to neutral, transparent to opaque, and matte to glossy, there are certainly gourds for every design personality!

The beauty of the Luca table by Costantini Design is in the distinctive grain of the exotic wood. Simple, but far from plain, the table is shown here in incredible Guayubira wood, with a natural semi-gloss finish. Firmly mounted on two solid wood pedestals, this exotic wood dining table is an impressive 96′ L x 48′ W x 30′ H. Other dimensions are also available. A family owned company, Costantini Design creates furniture the way that you want it. You can choose from a wide range of woods, such as the Walnut shown below or unusual species like Bubinga or Zebrawood, and a selection of finishes… antiques, gold leaf and patina, to name a few. Bring the family together for mealtimes over a dining table from Costantini Design.

As the world’s population continues to skyrocket and cities strain under the increased demand for resources, skyscraper farms offer an inspired approach towards creating sustainable vertical density. One of three finalists in this year’s Evolo Skyscraper Competition Eric Vergne’s Dystopian Farm project envisions a future New York City interspersed with elegantly spiraling biomorphic structures that will harness cutting-edge technology to provide the city with its own self-sustaining food source.
