Interior Design Sense

Just a few more houses from Sydney interior designer Karen Akers. The first, in Roseville, is a finalist in the 2013 Dulux Colour Awards. The second, in Gladsville, made the same finals in 2012 and was shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards as well. Traditional and contemporary. Light, bright and colourful. Joyful, fun and fab.

I scream. You scream. We all scream for  ….eyescream? A self service shop in Barcelona selling little monster bowls of Taiwanese shaved ice cream. From product design to branding, graphics and packaging all the way to interior design Estudio m Barcelona has taken what is normally an amorphous mass of sweet goop and introduced a fun taste and visual feast to the passing customers. How cool (pun intended) are those ice cream monsters with their sugar eyes?

I found this 4 bedroom London maisonette a while back on Foxtons real estate site, and haven’t gotten around to blogging it. Not surprising, it’s still for sale. Not an easy sell I’d say. How many people could handle these colours, or be into having slides from one floor to the next? Do you think the batman statue comes with it? I do find the floor art by Richard Wood to be pretty fun (although overkill in every room!), and OMG it has a 360 degree rotating bed (by Asmech). All of this can be yours for £4,999,999.

It’s so much fun to see what a little paint, blood sweat and tears can do to a home that desperately needs an update. Beth sent us some before and after photos of her home that she’s been slaving over for the past year and I am in awe of the transformation. It is now much more modern slathered in white paint, and the kitchen renovation is a ridiculously effective update for not much cash. She’s clearly a fan of mid-century modern design so that’s a bonus in my book. Here are a few before photos to get you started.
