I can’t quite believe that the 4th of July is here but as usual, summer is flying by!  The best way to spend your summer weekends (especially the long ones) is with good friends and good food.  So if food is on the table, why not make it festive and patriotic?  Take a look at some of these tasty treats that have captured the red, white and blue theme

When the local government of Hungary was looking for a motivational campaign to get dog owners to dispose off the dog poo from the streets, little did they know that the prize-winning entry Curve would garner so much support and enthusiasm. The trashcan designed by Kőrí¶s Benedek Ben Koros has a fun and intriguing way of dumping the waste. Read on to know more.

Ben explains, “The biggest problem with dog waste disposal cans is, that they fill up on domestic rubbish way before time thus even responsible dog owners can’t dispose their pet’s waste. I’ve tried to design a can, which doesn’t allow bottles, bags full of trash, empty boxes etc. to be dropped inside. The user must pick up the poo, place it in a plastic bag (biologically degradable plastic bags included on the Curve), and lead it through a curvy gap on the top, to be able to dump it.”

Designed with youth mind, the Ground Wave is an inspiring shoe design that aims to introduce exercise in a subtle, fun and relevant way that’s similar to playing a video game. Synced with a wireless app, the system gives dance moves to the wearer, tracking their movement with sensors and accelerometers and keeping track of their achievements and scores. User’s can share their scores with friends on social channels and even form their own dance crews!

Wether you like this quirky chair design by 56th Studio or not, you can’t deny that it stirs some sort of emotional reaction. In that sense, they could be equated to art that can be sat upon. 56th Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio, involved in graphic, product, prop and set design, to name a few. They describe their style as “luxe-personified yet kitschy, neo-ethnic, eclectically bold and youthful”. We like these chair designs because they are surprising and different. Given that most of the chairs seem to have somewhat of a face, it seems they have their own personalities.
