Stylish Bathroom Fixtures by Axor at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas

8 Jun

We received these photos of a new project in Las Vegas called the Mandarin Oriental. This building contains 228 units located at the CityCenter. The bathrooms feature fixtures by Axor from its Philippe Starck inspired collections: Axor Starck and Axor Starck X. The inspiration was to create a modern respite when taking a break from the Las Vegas action.

A Little Souvenir…

4 Jun

My mom just got back from Houston and brought me back a little souvenir.  Well, not the typical souvenir you would imagine!

She emailed me an inspiration photo of a room vignette that she saw at a shop there (one that sells Farrow and Ball wallpaper and paint.)  She snapped a photo of the room for me so I could live vicariously through her jaunt around Houston visiting all of their cool shops and showrooms.  (now if only I could remember what shop it was!)

I am OBSESSED!  I wouldn’t have ever thought to put all of those different patterns together in a room and would have been afraid that it would get “way too busy”; however, for some reason, it works here.  I really love all of the individual elements and that wallpaper is amazing!  I predict that the bold blue hue above will replace the turquoise fad (at least I hope so! I love turquoise but I’m so ready for a new blue to take over.  What about you?)

35 Bathroom Renovation Ideas

31 May

I am always looking for bathroom renovation ideas since every space seems to be a different size, has different obstacles in its construction path and needs to meet the expectations of the home owner for every day function and luxury. The best way to get started is to look at as many pictures as possible to determine likes and dislikes along with a good understand of daily needs and what sorts of luxuries you enjoy. These pictures come from Spec-Net and feature a variety of full bathroom views to close ups of toilets, tubs and vanities. Hopefully, there are a few gems that spark inspiration towards possible future ideas. Via.

B + W Inspiration

27 May

The home of Toronto designer Jennifer Ferreira is chock full of inspiration.  I would love to have the restraint to do my entire home in a black and white palette…maybe I’ll save that for my dream Paris pied-a-terre (someday, someday).  So for now I’ve pulled together lots of black and white pieces that would pull together fabulous spaces.

The "Otto" Low Modern Platform Bed from GERVASONI SPA

20 May

GERVASONI SPA of Italy has been taking the furniture industry steps forward since 1882 and here are two very sleek and low platform beds that surely received some inspiration from Asia. The Otto 179 and 178 bamboo laminated platform beds from designer Paola Navone are just the clean and necessary basics without any extraneous elements. I really like the wide platform that seemingly floats with or without individual headboards. See the rest of the GERVASONI collection featuring natural elements with sophisticated man-made products here.

Origami Inspired Opa Chair

20 May

It’s not rare for product designers to look at the traditional Japanese art of Origami for inspiration. Industrial Design student Daniel Levin does the same with a hint of quirkiness with his Opa Chair. Showing ingenuity by moulding his chair like origami shaped animals, the chair may not be big on comfort but will take center stage in any urban space.
