Interior Design Sense

Residences built near water seem to draw a vivid lifestyle from the surroundings. Built to have as much access to water as possible, this next house has an amazing location in the Stockholm archipelago. Resting in a private area in the Swedish Ví¤rmdí¶ municipality, the interior and exterior design of the residence is based on light, modern features and awesome accents. Large entertaining areas both inside and outside create the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon accompanied by friends and family. Predominantly white, the walls bounce light around to create a bright atmosphere, accentuated by details like the stone fireplaces and walls and the dark seating facilities. The bedroom conveys a feeling of total surrender to the beautiful landscape with the incorporated spa and large glass walls. For sale at Eklund Stockholm New York, the residence beneficiates from both a great interior living space and a select placement in the archipelago.

A few months ago we featured a post on Freshome about a stunning transformation of a Gothic church in Utrecht into a fabulous living space. Even though many of you stated that living in a former church would be a bit odd, the post was very much appreciated worldwide, which is why we decided to feature a similar project. This particular church overlooking the Mission Dolores Park in San Francisco recently suffered a sever makeover. The owner decided to keep its majestic facade and transform the interiors into a single family home which features no less than three bedrooms, a giant dining room with “surveillance balconies” and long passages for hallways. According to The Wall Street Journal, his church-home is currently inhabited by Mr. Akhavan, who is planning on selling it for $7,49 million.

For today we would like to showcase this charming small apartment located in Montmatre, Paris. Just one look at the photos below and one is surely to fall for its tasteful, captivating and alluring appearance. Designed by SWAN architects, this charming crib has no more than 25 square meters and consists of a single room, intelligently split into a bedroom and a living space. The panel beneath the two was initially an entire wall, but the architects decided to reduce it to its structure, creating a see-through unit of a great aesthetic effect. This also ensures a higher level of natural light throughout the day. The bathroom is conveniently “hidden” in the back wall of the apartment. The color palette is particularly eye-catching and is responsible for the mesmerizing contrast between the wooden floors and the furniture.

Every home has a story and every story has its own protagonists. Created to suit the lifestyle, expectations and ambitions of its inhabitants, this next home gathers under its roof a world of inviting and clutter-free interiors, as well as many spaces for entertaining guests. From the outside, the residence appears as a strong and imposing structure, although the interior space is limited to two stories. With a combination of stone, dark wood and glass, the facade has a striking contemporary look. Large glazed windows create a connection between the indoor living space and the surrounding nature. An interior courtyard further creates an equilibrated feeling of belonging to nature.

The designers express their view on the beautifully created residence: “Cantilevered framed structures are anchored to the site with monolithic limestone walls. Expansive glazing opens the interior to the valley bush land views beyond. Light filled spaces with a direct connection to garden courts and the natural bush surrounding the property. An open external fire pit to enjoy the summer evenings. Soft casual furniture and finishes set the mood, a sanctuary from the hustle of city life.”’  Every room in the house was exploited by the architects from Dane Design Australia to its full potential.

This next modern detached house situated in Costa Brava was designed by architects Marta Garcia-Orte and Antonio Zamora. Receiving the name of the city it was built in, the House in Mont-ras exhibits a modern version of the surrounding architecture. Choosing to work with different materials and textures – stone, iron, concrete, steel or wood – the architects defined the space as a mixture of modern and traditional styles. Set on over 420 m2, the residence consists of 4 connected buildings that have access to the breathtaking Mediterranean landscape. Used by a large family, the house had to be both roomy and comfortable for each member. This is the reason for creating a large, open living space, surrounded by bungalows that include all the services needed for each family group. The interior design, created by Minim, was carefully connected on all the three floors to form a modern residential building. The ground floor houses the public areas, dining room, kitchen, living room and a double-height library. In the semi-buried basement, a leisure gym and a garage/workshop were placed, while the first floor contains the master bedroom with en suite, study, and direct views of the garden and pool.

Designed by Tribe Studio architects in Australia, theis a two-story building in Sydney that will surprise you with its interior design. Instead of using full walls, the House Milner Schmukler is comprised of different boxes that act as different rooms of the house on the second floor while the first floor will offer you an impressive living room area as well as a pretty generous kitchen. The House Milner Schmukler successfully combines private and public spaces, which are features any family would welcome. The whole architectural design is complemented by modern furniture pieces that bring out the personality of each room, or living space, with style. Are you already considering getting one yourself? ‘Laurelhurst’ is a beautiful modern 2500-square foot residence designed by Jill Lewis and Lane Williams from Coop 15 Architecture and located in Seattle. According to the architects, this 1960’s modern home has been expanded and updated with a new second story containing three bedrooms and two baths. The main floor plan has been opened up, with expanded living areas where bedrooms were once located. There is new lighting, plumbing fixtures, cabinets and finishes throughout. The redesign implied the maximization of space and light. A simple stroll through the pictures is enough to demonstrate that the interiors have plenty of both. This house looks fantastic, no matter what the perspective. The white walls contrast beautifully with a series of decorating elements and the overall result is that of a contemporary, vivid and original living space. The London Prism concept conceived for the “A Room for London” by atelier 37.2 architects shows a hotel room which is inspired by light. In fact the London Prism is based on Isaac Newton’s particle theory that tells us that white light is made by mixing a bunch of different colors. Therefore, the windows of the London Prism are made of colored glass panels of various lengths in order to match the wavelength of each color. Once you walk inside the London Prism you’ll notice there’s plenty of living space divided in three distinct areas: living area, bedroom area and the bathroom area. It’s also pretty clear there are no actual doors to separate these different spaces so we’re looking at a single room that uses various furniture pieces to separate each distinct area. Russian interior design studio Geometrix transformed the interiors of this next luxury penthouse into a surprising modern space meant to be enjoyed to its full potential. Featuring a combination of dark and light colour schemes, the interiors of this scrumptious penthouse call for a certain order in furniture arrangement. The interior designers created an extremely contemporary inside living space that extends on to the terrace for a full exploration of the panoramic views of Moscow. Situated high above the city, in the Triumph Palace, a 57-story apartment building in Moscow, the penthouse is compartmented into spaces that have many accents in common. Created as a unified space, the residence balances light and dark in a carefully planned manner. Large windows allow gorgeous, uninterrupted views of the Russian capital and the generous terrace extends the living space over the city.

Designed by Tato Architects in Japan, the home in the images below looks pretty ordinary but once you enter the simple house you’ll discover some amazing design features. In fact the house on display today is nowhere near what you expect it to be once you step in it, at least virtually. Instead of clearly divided rooms and a plain roof over your head you’ll find strange openings all over the place and an equally strange ceiling that not only looks good, and quite daring, but also manages to merge the attic with the rest of the house thus creating larger areas and even more usable living space. All those windows strategically placed all over the place make sure there’s plenty of light throughout the house during the day, but also kind of neutralize any sense of privacy. Nonetheless this Tato Architects house is pretty astonishing for a regular-looking house. Via Dornob
