The Glamour Quotient

29 Apr

{C Magazine via The Goods Design}

Mirrored bathroom sink vanities are nothing short of fabulous.  I’d love one paired with hand-painted wallpaper like Anne Crawford’s bathroom as seen in C Magazine. I love the detail of the vanity recessed into a niche with a mirrored border.

Love the look and feel of leather? Then try the new Bellows collection designed by Toan Nguyen on for size. This chic furniture collection by Walter Knoll boasts an elegant look and a luxurious feel that raises the bar on your home decor. The Bellows Dining Table echoes that same style in its base, topped by a delicate, round glass tabletop, made for socializing and enjoying.

The Bellows Chair is totally tubular – literally. The cylinder-shaped base flares into a leather-clad seat that beckons.

Cool Balancing Boxes Bedside Table from Porro Furniture

29 Apr

I have to say that I love this bedside table from Porro Furniture called “Balancing Boxes”. It was created by the Swedish design group “Front”, whose four members include Anna Lindgren, Katja Sävström, Sofia Lagerkvist and Charlotte von der Lancken. The concept of boxes providing storage and acting as a table top surface is an insightful idea. The way the boxes pivot on themselves melds both art and furniture into one statement. More information: here.

Nendo Micky Mouse Ribbon Stool For Cappelini

27 Apr

You are never too old for Mickey Mouse! No, I am not on the payroll of Walt Disney but simply love the adorable mouse to death. So imagine my excitement when I came across the Mickey Ribbon Stool, designed by nendo. The ribbon stool pays homage to world’s most famous mouse (sorry Jerry) in its own inimitable way and is a result of the collaboration between Cappelini and the Walt signature adult lifestyle brand. This quirky stool is hard to resist since not only does it displays an acute sense of design but also keeps its eccentricity intact.

White Marble Double Sink Vanity, Washbasins and Shower Tray by Marsotto

We love these luxurious white marble double sink vanity, washbasins and shower tray designs by Nicola Giardini Papa, created for Italian bathroom brand Marsotto. This bathroom suite would make a “sweet” statement indeed in the modern home. Its sophisticated design is characterized by delicate details reminiscent of filigree, cut into the simple, square-shaped marble fixtures. This pleasing, perforated pattern is echoed in the base of elegant washbasins, underfoot in the shower tray, and also appearing on the sliding doors of double sink vanity, giving each bathroom piece a one-of-a-kind look and feel. The aesthetic is very Zen-like, ideal for a spa-style space made for relaxation and rejuvenation. For more details on this white marble bathroom, visit Marsotto.

Revisting Deb McLean

26 Apr

I love nothing more than rediscovering portfolios. Australian stylist Deb McLean has been featured on DTI before. I visit her wonderful blog Busy Being Fabulous often. I love the clean fresh aesthetic of her work. It’s so modern Australian. How did I miss her new website? I only stumbled upon it through her rep’s site. It’s so obvious that Deb does what she loves for a living. Glad I found more of her work. More to gorgeous images to drink in.  Click here to see all her fabulous work after the jump.

Mural love

23 Apr

We received an email a couple days ago that without a doubt had to be shared with you all: “I’m Lady, an advertising creative from Manila and an avid reader and fan of your blog. You’ve featured our cat Kitty Bang Bang once on Monday’s Pets on Furniture. For the past year, my boyfriend and I have been constantly inspired by your featured interiors to improve our new home. Having an artist father, I’ve therefore asked him to paint a mural on our dining room wall, to break the sparseness of the space.” Oh, to have an artist for a father! This mural is fantastic!!! Thank you so much for sharing Lady!

Modern Art

22 Apr

Often times you’ll look around your room and wonder what’s missing.  The furniture is there, the window treatments are up, the rug is down and it’s feeling cozy but not quite complete.  Chances are you’re missing the one element that brings it all together.  ART!  I’ve been eyeing this one photograph in a small coffee shop on Bleeker Street and I’m just waiting for the perfect client to sell it to.  It’s by photographer Frank Louis and can be found in his Italy collection.

I also have a client who recently purchased a few David Burdeny prints from Lumas gallery in NYC which you can also buy online.  Take a look at his collection to see which colors work best with your decor.

I found a few addtional artists and photographs i also like from Lumas Gallery for those of you who want a modern edge!

I love this last series for a beach house

What Are You Doing for Earth Day 2010?

22 Apr

team inhabitat, earth day 2009, sustainable lifestyle, green movement, sustainable design, green design

Happy Earth Day!

Or maybe not. The way we see it, today is just another day and there’s no reason to live it any greener than tomorrow or the next day. That’s not to say that there aren’t a lot of really positive and fun celebrations and activities going on around the globe though! And perhaps this Earth Day will get people who were never interested in the environment before to give issues like climate change, energy conservation and even recycling a chance. From New York to Australia to San Francisco, we asked our writers and editors around the globe how they plan to spend April 22, 2009 – Here’s a look at what Earth Day means to us.

We’d love to hear from you too! What are YOU doing for Earth Day, and what does this holiday mean to you? Our favorite response in the comments below will win an Inhabitat T-shirt!
