Stockholm’s Stora Nygatan Street features this beautiful 75 sqm apartment situated on the 4th and last floor of a 1800s building. The positioning of the apartment at the top floor reduces outside noise dramatically. Combining vintage furniture and modern decorations in excellent taste, the interior designer did a great job showing that a small apartment can be just as comfortable as a large home. Characterized by neoclassicism, the apartment has been renovated to fit modern needs. White painted walls in the living room accentuate the oak parquet flooring and large windows bright up the space. The kitchen features dark wood veneer frames and worktops, while the modern furniture is painted in white. Wide oak planks cover the floor. The bathroom features a contemporary corner shower separated by arched zebra-patterned glass doors. A spacious hallway acts like the office space, making the apartment look larger and brighter. There’s just twice as much to love in this modern double chair, by Italian furniture brand AltaModa. The BigBaboll double chair is a two-seater version of the famous Baboll armchair (good thing too – with cool style like this, people are bound to fight over who gets to sit in it!). However, we figured some of these minimalist designs would fit perfectly in the hallway or foyer. Seen on Trendir, the best thing about this amazing furniture set is that one can choose the items and combine them in the best possible way for his or her apartment. Environmental awareness and great design are achieved through North on Sixty’s modern barnwood furniture collection. Ranging from sofas to tables to storage and entertainment units, each furniture is a custom piece of incredible character and back-story. “Chesterfield”, pictured above, is fashioned from a combination of recycled exterior Pine and Hemlock barnwood boards and solid steel for the framing. Leather and soy-based fabrics are used for upholstery. The entertainment unit, pictured below, is built for various forms of storage, such as audio-visual equipment, dining support (for equipment and bottles), and general use. Designed by Marco Pocci and Claudio Dondoli, the regal build of “Pasha” and the modern choices made for its materials and finish makes it a great addition to both formal and casual spaces. The classic design is fashioned out of injection moulded polycarbonate plastic, also making it suitable as an outdoor piece. Seat cushions upholstered in vibrant fabrics is an option and a great enhancement to the chair. What is the first aspect that comes to mind when thinking about modern living rooms? For us it’s openness. And since we already featured a post on Freshome showcasing 26 wonderful living room ideas, we decided to continue this amazing display with 30 open plan living rooms that are very much in agreement with the modern interior design trends. Not too long ago, Ronique wrote a post called The Pros and Cons of Having an Open Floor Plan Home, where she mentioned how today the open floor plan is a sought after amenity in any home, as half walls and visual dividers allow a family to converse and interact. In this post we did not only gather interiors that have the ability to connect, but also fascinating rooms with a well defined personality and a highly appealing look.
