Early on Thursday morning I saw a tweet go past with a link to a recent blog post by Nicole Cohen of the blog Sketch42. The tweet said “Keith Haring inspired” and I was instantly drawn and once I took a look at Nicole’s post I was instantly in love! She had created an entry with Keith Haring inspired graphics painted (by her!) on the walls. Considering I’ve been a huge fan and collector of Keith Haring since my teens, I was by far impressed with this stunning entry!

Nicole wrote that she was also inspired by the work of Kelly Wearstler’s entry at her Hillcrest Estate.

Makes for such a dramatic backdrop when styling! Loving this!

I actually featured this on a blog post awhile back about my visit to the Keith Haring Foundation in NYC (photo by me).

Go swing your hook

18 Nov

As I mentioned in previous posts, my house addition plans have gone awry (putting it mildly) and my husband and I have got to get our asses in gear and start all over again. We’re thinking a tall, 3 storey structure now with the top floor being a media room/office – hopefully with exposed beams. I came across the photo below in my stash and immediately thought how cool it would be to have a hanging chair in a corner up there. Fun!!

Look what a little blood, sweat and tears can get you

8 Nov

The other day we received the following email from Jennifer: As a long time follower of your blog, I know you do real estate stalkings. This is my home that I just finished restoring last year. It was built in 1917, nothing had been done to it, well I think, ever!!. It was scheduled for demolition when we bought it. Completely dilapidated, falling over….It took us almost 2 years to renovate it. The tears, the joy, the work….ugh…but the end product I am pretty proud of. We have just put it on the market today and I would love it if you would post some photos or the link! Any of your followers up for a move to Texas??? Now, it takes alot for me to be rendered speechless when it comes to interiors. This one did just that. And when I came to I made my husband come over to my laptop and showed him each and every photo while gasping and pointing. I’m not sure what I’m more shocked about – that this house was supposed to be levelled or that Jen is selling it. (Although she says they just finished one across the street and will send photos when they’re moved in and have it all decked out – can’t wait!). Listing link HERE

Michael Wee encore

25 Oct

Jo expressed her endearment for the photography of fellow Australian Michael Wee a couple of times last year (here and here) and because he is simply THAT GOOD, I thought I would feature more of his work. I just can’t get enough. Awesome spaces. Awesome captures. (P.S. I am oddly enamoured by the slight locker room vibe of the bathroom in the second last photo).

Eva Kylland

13 Oct

While I sit in French class day after day suffering (it’s one-on-one, with me talking on and on about my day job), I desperately find myself requiring some mental relief. I steal moments thinking about the new boots I ordered, humming songs by the new band I discovered (I can hear them practising as I write this) and dreaming about inspiring interiors, such as the ones below photographed by equally inspiring Norwegian photographer Eva Kylland whom I discovered the other day. I will spend today thinking about the photo above. DREAMY.
