Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

14 Nov

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

*** A huge thanks to all of you who answered my request for more pet entries for today. If some of you are wondering why your photos aren’t included, I received so many I had to save some for next week.

My new handmade walnut bed from a wonderful Etsy artisan, against a chocolate wall (my first foray into bold color) and Minnie – my 19 year old geriatric kitty – in her Queen of the Hill mode. The old and the new, merging beautifully.

Long time ago I send you a picture of my cat Rodolfo acting as a gargoyle…. Now here you have few pictures of his brothers, Catalino, the siamese, and Nicolas, the white deaf baby we found 8 months ago. Frequently they appear in my blog using all the furniture of our house, of course.

This is Pixel the Weimaraner trying out our brand new bed! We have just completed renovating our 1920s townhouse and are slowly filling it in with furniture. The bed is our own design made to order for us, and we love it! It is great for leaning on to relax and reading a book in the evening.

This is the feline love of my life, Minnie. She passed away in August and all the pictures I have of her seem to be closeups, these are the most zoomed out I have. I made her a bed out of a cola crate to keep her from sleeping on my hands and keyboard while I worked. First picture is the trial run where she was slightly suspicious, second picture she was madly in love with it.

I’m attaching a photo of a daybed that my husband made, using reclaimed wood.  We just upgraded to a flat screen (better late than never) and I wanted a daybed to place underneath the tv, so the wall can be used, not just watched! It is covered in our old organic unbleached cotton duvet cover.  Ikea lamp behind and 3 of our photos.  Chair under the photos is early 1900′s french.  Oh, and the cat is Smokey.

This is our cat, Mojo. She’s tiny — she weighs about 6 pounds. We call her “the koala” because of the way she grips things while she’s sleeping. I bought this butterscotch colored loveseat for $100 on eBay from a shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana a couple years ago. It’s a great piece of living room furniture and so easy to clean when you have pets! (We have another cat and a dog.)

All of our animals are rescues- Bailey is the larger brown/white beagle/pointer mix. She recently lost her front right leg to a tumor and is doing wonderfully! The little white furball is Tank- I adopted him in April of this year! He is a pekingese, his mother was rescued from a puppy mill when she was pregnant. The one of him on the red towel all fluffed up was the first night home with us! I like the other one of him even more- his underbite is poking out and he looks like a very pensive man. Lastly the furry kitty is Gizmo- I couldn’t find many non-grainy pictures of her because she is always moving! I love that picture because she’s all snuggled up in the corner.

I get this email from my wife with the subject line…. Monster created.  I figured it was one of our dogs, Molly or Ace doing something.  Turns out that after 6 years, Ace thinks he has free reign over all the furniture in the house.  In this case, it’s our bed.  Indeed, a monster has been created!!!

This is my mums cornish rex, India, she’s got a fabulous elegance about her, even while watching the other animals outside (she’s not allowed out because she’s got light skin and white fur sue she’d get sun burn) she sits on a chair. The second photo of her is on the food bin, with her “please feed me” face.

I am submitting photos we took during our recent vacation at Casale Monticchio in Umbria, Italy.  One of the resident cats, Jasper, often came to visit us in our apartment, a 17th century converted outbuilding, which originally housed stables, pigsties, wine presses and a bread oven.

This is my dear French bulldog/shih tzu mix, Bo. She sits in her favourite corner of our well loved, down-stuffed leather sofa. Inevitably the pillows she is perched on are dramatically shoved off moments after she jumps up to rest her nearly hairless belly on the cool leather! For such a silly little dog, she certainly looks serious in this picture.

I send the picture of my cat, I know that the furniture ( table) is not clear, but i simply think that is a perfect picture for a halloween pets post, a black cat and a BOO! He is Rasputín, my 5 months cat, we live in south Spain, and I was printing some printables for the halloween decorations and he decided to appear behind the computer.

I am sending you a picture of my dog Dyrgja (14 years old). I just finished furnishing my sisters apartment and desire to inspire has been a great help. Thank you! I actually found the inspiration for the ‘Hi!’ in the picture on desire to inspire. When you blogged about Mark Zeff in September I was instantly in love with the ‘Vicious’ sign on the wall and it looked like something I could DIY, so I decided to make a big sign for my sisters living room – this is how it turned out.

I’ve attached a picture of my cheweenie (chihuahua/dachshund mix) named Ty for your consideration. I was taking pictures of my patio for my blog when Ty just hopped up on one of the lounge chairs. He posed himself in every shot and I think he really added to my photo shoot. Don’t worry though. He hasn’t let the fame change him.

This is FannieBelle (named after my great grandmother) my pet hedgehog! Here she is pictured on an antique bedside table that I painted silver. She loves running around around my room but if I take my eye off her, even if for only a second, she quickly scurries off to explore new nooks and corners.

I have attached a few pictures….The first one is of Hank, our dog, laying on the couch. Our cat Leroy is behind him. Hank is ten and has 3 legs. He’s the sweetest dog on the planet. The second one is Annabel. She is a dog that comes over for some dogsitting. She likes this chair cause it’s right next to the bed. The last one is of Leroy in the bathroom sink. I know it’s a close up, but our bathroom is teeny! He likes to sleep in the sink on occasion.

11 Oct

The bathtub Grandtour by Rapsel is a modern masterpiece. It is so striking, it practically plays the role of a piece of furniture. It is functional and designed to make a stylish statement. Presented at Cersaie 2011, Grandtour made quite a lasting impression with the press, designers and architects as well. To give your bathroom something special, visit Rapsel for more details.
