http://interiordesignsense.com/tag//

This beautiful home comes from architects Damian Cyryl Kotwicki and is located in Warsaw, Poland, on a site of 560 square meters. Seen on Plataforma Arquitectura, the house was designed based on functional and simple lines. A mix of brick, wood and concrete gives the residence a warm and appealing appearance. On the ground floor there is a spacious two-car garage and an open area for spending family time during the day. There is also a kitchen, a lounge and a lobby with a beautiful spiral staircase, which is the focal point of the living zone. On the top floor above the living room there are two bedrooms with bathrooms for residents and potential visitors. After all, what more could a young family need? Have a look at the incredible interior design of this place and let us know if you think there is anything missing.

Eathouse: A Fresh, Local Take on Edible Architecture

28 Dec

Eathouse, edible architecture, Stuurlui Stedenbouw, Atelier GRAS!, sustainable design, green design, urban agriculture, vertical farm house

This amazing edible Eathouse is a literal take on urban agriculture by Stuurlui Stedenbouw and Atelier GRAS!. Spotted over at Plataforma Arquitectura, the locally-grown garden home is bursting forth with green walls bearing a variety of edible fruits and veggies. The modular structure is designed to host a summer crop, so all of its construction materials can be easily dismantled for reuse at the end of each harvest.

Beautiful Casa en Santa Elena Nestles Smartly Into Hillside

25 Aug

Medellín House, Santa Elena house, Antonio Sofan, columbia architecture, roof deck, cork floor, bamboo concrete, low impact vacation home

Spotted at Plataforma Arquitectura, this simple and elegant vacation retreat sits in Santa Elena near Arvi Natural Park, Colombia as a complement to the gentle landscape. Architect Antonio Sofan snuggled the 106 square meter home into the hillside and incorporated a large outdoor deck onto the roof, significantly increasing the home’s living space with a minimum of land disturbance. A pink mosaic tile wall on the decked roof beacons visitors to the unique entrance, and provocative pixelated window treatments help keep the design light.

Postopolis! LA

6 Feb

Postopolis! is an architecture blogging event that started in 2007, hosted by the Storefront for Art and Architecture, as a  collaborative event by Inhabitat, Subtopia, City of Sound and BLDGBLOG.

And now I´m happy to announce that for the 2nd version, Postpolis! is moving to Los Angeles and ArchDaily  got invited!!!!

We will be collaboratively organizing an event around architecture and all things related (landscape, urbanism, politics, history, and a long list) on the city of case study houses, highways and movie stars.

From Tuesday, March 31, to Saturday, April 4, 2009, lasting from 5pm to 11pm each day we are going to have an architecture blast, with back-to-back discussions, interviews, panels, slideshows, films and parties (what´s an architecture event without a party?) designed to push the architecture and landscape conversation from virtual to reality.

The following blogs are involved:

Every night of Postopolis will be free and open to the public, so you can drop by at any time. The full schedule with all the speakers and topics will be announced soon. In the meanwhile, you can check the Postopolis! LA page over at the Storefront for Art and Architecture, or join the Event page on Facebook (be sure to join our group on FB also!).

I hope all our readers from LA and nearby locations are able to attend, as it will be very nice to get to meet some face to face during the event.

We are going to have more info on this soon, so stay tuned!

Postopolis! LA is sponsored by the Storefront for Art and Architecture and ForYourArt, and it will be part of Los Angeles Art Weekend. The Postopolis! logo was designed by Joe Alterio.
